President of Sea Dog Maritime Recruitment

  scott@seadogrecruiters.com

Scott Saxon brings with him over a decade of Recruiting experience within the Maritime Industry. Having been born into the Marine Marketplace, Scott began his journey in Maritime Recruitment in 1995 where he started as a Recruiter in the Crew Placement Division of Bob Saxon Associates (BSA) , one of the world's largest Yacht Management and multi-service global firms. Several years later he was promoted to the Director of Crew Placement BSA. He served as Director for this major industry firm overseeing Crew Placement operations for their Fort Lauderdale, Newport, and European offices. Scott was also instrumental in building one of the industry's first "on-line global crew databases." This database was designed to enable crew to keep their files updated and current in a "real-time" environment.

Scott left the industry in late 2005 after BSA was sold to a European company, to pursue other career ambitions and secured a position working for the Government as an Insurance Supervisor for the State of Florida's Division of Workers' Compensation. There he worked for four years until the recruitment world knocked on his door again. In 2009, he accepted a position as a Corporate Recruiter to work for a global Information Technology firm that was looking to grow their Florida operations in Tampa and Tallahassee. Soon thereafter, in 2011, he found himself returning to the maritime recruitment sector working for the world's largest firm that provides specialist recruiting services to the shipping & maritime, offshore and oil & gas sectors. His previous experience placing the best candidates for the available positions proved to be invaluable. After experiencing a record of successful performance for this large firm over a 2 year tenure, he determined it was time to launch his own recruitment firm.

Scott has over a decade of experience in globally recruiting crew on all levels of deck, engine and interior staffing on various size vessels. He is experienced in recruiting crew not only for yachts but also for commercial vessels including, but not limited to, ROROs, OSVs, FPSOs, drill ships, research, cargo, tankers, and onward. He also demonstrates a great degree of experience in shore-based maritime recruitment, having recruited for a marine and offshore classification society, marine surveying companies, naval architecture firms, marine electronics companies, and shipyards, just to name a few.

Scott believes that a true recruitment firm should work as the client's partner, not just operate as a resume supplier, and to ensure both parties fully benefit from a long term business relationship. From the candidate's side, a recruitment firm should not just be in business to work as a resume mill. The firm should work closely with the candidate not only as a recruiter but also as a career coach in order to make sure to steer them in the best career direction.

Having been involved with the maritime industry for the most of his life, Scott has developed a very large network to the benefit of his candidates and his agencies with whom he works to find the right person for the right job.
